Welcome to our School

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the website of St Charles' Primary & LCR.

As a Catholic school, with a co-located interdenominational unit, faith is important to us. We are very proud of our school where our children and Christ are at the heart of everything we do. Our school motto 'Nurturing leadership in a community of faith, love and learning' captures perfectly our vision of being a Christ-centred community which recognises that we are all God's children 'made in the image and likeness of God'. At St Charles' Primary & LCR we aim to help children develop in their journey of faith in a positive learning environment and to this end, we place Jesus, His teachings and His values at the centre of what we do. We are supported in doing this by our school chaplain, Fr Allan Cameron, the Parish Priest of both St Gregory's Church and the Oratory of St Charles. Many of our pupils come from other faiths therefore we believe that the best way for us all to show our faith is to live it. In our school, everyone is welcome. We respect and celebrate diversity. Our pupils have opportunities to explore their faith and learn about the faith of others through rich experiences, conversations and celebrations.

We have been using the 7 Habits from The Leader in Me since 2018 to teach our pupils 21st century leadership and life skills.  In our school we believe that everyone can be a leader and the children are given ample opportunities to develop these leadership skills.

In our school we view Outdoor Learning as a life enhancing daily experience which not only helps us to deliver and enrich the curriculum, but that is fundamental to our children’s health and wellbeing.   As well as learning within our classrooms, we make great use of the local area and children are given the opportunity to learn outside the building regularly; this can be in the school grounds or further afield in local resources such as the Children's Wood, the Botanic Gardens and the Hamiltonhill Claypits Local Nature Reserve.

Please feel free to get in touch with any comments or suggestions.
