Enrolment for Primary 1
Enrolment for Primary School now takes place online. You can check the local school for your address here. You will find the information you need to enrol your child here: Starting School.
Registration of Primary 1 children takes place in November and is advertised widely in local press etc. Prospective parents are welcome to visit the school and should contact the school office.
Children must be living in Glasgow at the address provided before enrolment can take place as we are unable to hold spaces. Proof of address will be required at time of enrolment e.g. Council Tax bill, Mortgage/Rental Agreement.
At St Charles' Primary & LCR, we have developed a structured induction programme for all children entering to Primary 1 which takes place between January and June. The Depute Head Teacher and Primary 1 teacher also visits local nurseries to meet and get to know the children. Close liaison between pre school establishments and oir school ensures a postitive successful start to the children’s primary school journey. In May, the children are introduced to the Primary 7 Buddy who will look after them when they start school.
In-Term Enrolment
If you have moved house your new address may be out with your current school catchment area (check using 'find my nearest) once you have confirmed the addresses matches the school catchment area and you will have two choices:
- Move your child to the local catchment school to your new address or
- Request to keep your child at the current school.

Placing Requests
If you do not live in our catchment area you can apply for a Placing Request. The information you require can be found here: Placing Requests
Please note: the Education Authority does not provide transport for those pupils in receipt of a placing request, other than in individual exceptional circumstances and where appropriate legislation applies. In the case of under-age placing requests, if the child is offered a place in his or her catchment area school, transport will be provided in accordance with council policy stated above.
