Why do we have a Pupil Council?

The Pupil Council is a way of giving pupils a say in the way our school is run and enables them to engage in activities to inform school improvement.

The Pupil Council

This pupil leadership group is comprised of two elected class representative from each mainstream class plus one class representative from LCR classes. A pupil council representative is a pupil who shows kindness, understanding and the ability to listen and take on board others’ points of views.

Pupils can inform the Council of important issues via the following methods:

  • Pupils can talk to their class representative

  • Putting ideas in the Pupil Council suggestion box in the school foyer

The Benefits of Being Part of the Pupil Council

  • Children develop leadership, communication, problem solving and enterprise skills.
  • Children are more interested and engaged in what’s happening in the school.
  • Children feel safe, included, trusted, important, proud, helpful, responsible and respected.
